A Rohingya named Abdul Quader (52) lost his leg when a landmine exploded inside Myanmar across the sleepy border at Naikshyongchari in Bandarban. This incident happened on Tuesday evening. Ghumdhum Union Chairman AKM Jahangir Aziz said that a Rohingya was injured in a landmine explosion on the other side of the border. Later I heard that he was taken to Cox's Bazar Hospital.
Locals said that Abdul Quader's leg was severed when a mine exploded while smuggling a cow from Myanmar across the border fence. Later he was rescued and admitted to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
On the other hand, locals heard two mortar shell explosions in the afternoon and one in the evening in Jamchari.
In this regard, local farmer Abul Kalam said, I was very scared after hearing the sound of mortar shell explosion. I don't understand what happens later.
In this regard, Chairman of Naikxyongchari Sadar Union Parishad, Nurul Abshar Emon said, locals heard the sound of three mortar shell explosions in Jamchari area in the afternoon and evening. Never heard mortar shell explosions from this area before. However, there was no damage in the explosion, he said. Naikxyongchari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Salma Ferdous did not receive any statement despite calling several times to inquire about the matter.
